Britannic Majesty's Consul-General at Canton whom I had asked to watch r. Volpicelli's movements and to ascertain if possible his intentions concerning the removal of the Consulate-General. I gather from Mr. Wilton's letter that Mr. Volpicelli does not intend to return to this Colony. On the other hand lir. Bena, the Assistant he left in charge hore informed the Colonial Secretary on the 14th. instant that Kr. Volpicelli had told him that he would return here as soon 38 e had receavered from an attack of
Malaria.
